The Best Hacks For Textile Cleaning

We all know that the most difficult type of cleaning is that of textiles! Here are some tips and tricks to get the nasty stains off of couches, rugs and mattresses.

Check the manufacturer’s recommendations

The first and most important step in cleaning your textiles is to make sure that everything that you will use will be in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. If any of the products on the list is not recommended for your cleaning please do not use it.

Vacuum and remove loose particles

Before starting scrubbing your textile surfaces make sure you vacuum and brush out with a dry brush any loose particles, dust or pet hair. This will simplify the cleaning process.

Baking soda is a must

Baking soda is great to loosen fabrics and prepare them for a deep scrubbing. It is also helpful in removing odors. For stronger stains you can use a mixture of baking soda with water, vinegar and lemon. Let the mixture sit on the stain and then vacuum it.

Apply cleaning solution

After the steps above are complete, the next stop is washing. For rugs this can be done in a full washing mode. Spread your rug on a lean surface and wash it out with the appropriate solutions. For couches and mattresses scrub the parts that need to be cleaned with a washcloth and make sure not to soak the surface as this can impact the fibers.

Air dry your textiles

Air dry your textiles for at least 24 hours before using them again. If there is any additional moisture make sure to pat it down with a soft towel to remove any additional moisture.
